According to a post on Microsoft’s Windows 7 Team Blog, Windows 7 will be available to the general public on October 22nd.
The article states that full pricing (new computers) will run from $199.99 – $319.99 and upgrade pricing will range from $119.99 – $219.99, however, they will be running a 50% early upgrade discount that ends July 11th. If you do buy a new computer between now and the Windows 7 release, you may be eligible for a free or low cost Windows 7 upgrade.
Here’s a few links from Microsoft on Windows 7
I have worked with several of the Windows 7 Betas (test versions) over the past few months and like what I see. Windows 7 appears to be faster than Vista and should hopefully address some of the brought about in Vista. I think of Windows 7 as “Vista done right”. If you have made the switch from XP to Vista, the change to Windows 7 should be much easier.
We have tested CattleMax CS and are pleased to announce that CattleMax CS is fully compatible with Windows 7 Beta. We’ve tested records, reports, online backup, EID, weigh scales, breed interfaces, and all other areas. The Windows 7 compatibility updates are available to all CattleMax CS customers for no additional charge. CattleMax 2006 and earlier customers may upgrade to CattleMax CS.
Also, I wanted to elaborate on the term “compatibility” – it’s not as black-and-white as it appears. Some software programs claim Vista compatibility by requiring you to disable Windows User Account Control, a major security feature of Vista, or are only compatible with 32-bit versions of Vista. Be sure and check with your software vendors before performing any operating system upgrades. CattleMax is fully compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions and does not require disabling UAC or other security features.
